Good in the Hood

Every sale gives
something back.

Good things happen when we give back.

The neighbourhoods we work in are more than places to buy and sell homes. They're communities we care about.

That's why, for every property we sell, we'll make two separate donations to a local charity or community organisation — one on behalf of the seller and one on behalf of the buyer. It's our way of paying it forward, supporting the people doing good things close to home, and giving a little something back to the communities that give us so much.

Because a great neighbourhood is about more than property. It's about people.

"
I sell homes in the community I live in. So when a sale settles, it feels right to put something back into the streets, the clubs and the causes that make this place what it is one donation for the seller, one for the buyer, each to a local charity that does good
right here in the hood.

How it works

Two donations. Every sale. Both local.

One on behalf of the seller, one on behalf of the buyer each an independent gift to a charity or community service in the neighbourhood. The buyer or the seller chooses the charity from with in the neighbourhood the sale was made.

01

A property settles

When a sale goes unconditional and the keys change hands, the giving begins not as a marketing exercise, but because it's the right thing to do.

02

A donation on behalf of the seller

I choose a local charity or community service connected to the seller's neighbourhood and make a donation in their name. Their sale, their community, their gift back.

03

A donation on behalf of the buyer

Independently, I choose a local charity or community service connected to the buyer's new neighbourhood and make a separate donation in their name. A welcome to the community.

04

Two gifts, one neighbourhood

Each donation is independent the seller's and the buyer's are separate, to causes that matter in the places they each call home. It's not much, but it's something.

Examples

How it would work in practice.

This is a brand-new programme no donations have been made yet. Here are two examples of how it would work when properties settle. Each donation is made independently: one on behalf of the seller, one on behalf of the buyer, to a local charity or community service in the neighbourhood. The recipient is chosen by buyer and seller, from within the charities of the neighbourhood sold in.

New Brighton Surf Life Saving Club

Keeping our beaches safe

Here's how it would work: when the seller of a property like 2/180 Marine Parade settles, a donation would be made on their behalf to the sellers selected charity in that neighbourhood. It6 could be the local surf life saving club who patrol our beaches every summer, keeping locals and visitors safe at the surf and they're entirely volunteer-run. It feels right to give back to the people who watch over the coastline that made the property so special.

The New Brighton Community Gardens Trust

Restoring the love of plants and sharing

Here's how it would work: when a buyer purchases a property like 2/180 Marine Parade settles, a donation could be made on buyers behalf to the New Brighton Community Garden. They're the community trust working to motivated by the idea of providing hands on learning about how to grow, low cost quality food. A provide education to school students on plants and gardening. What a way to say welcome to the neighbourhood and give something back to it at the same time.

Why it matters

The community is the whole point.

Local causes, local impact

Every donation goes to a charity or community service that works right here in Eastern Christchurch — the surf club, the estuary trust, the food bank. The money stays in the neighbourhood.

Two gifts, not one

The seller's donation and the buyer's donation are independent. They go to different causes in different neighbourhoods, because each person's connection to the community is their own.

My commitment, not a surcharge

These donations come from me — not added to your fees. It's part of how I work: relationship first, community always, and giving back where I can.

Be part of it

Your sale could give something back too.

When you sell with me, a donation gets made on your behalf — and another on your buyer's behalf — to a local cause in your neighbourhood. It's not the reason to choose me, but it's part of how I work. And it's a nice thing to be part of.

If you'd like to talk about selling, buying, or just want to suggest a local charity I should know about, I'd love to hear from you.

"Real estate is about people, not just property. And people are part of a community. If I'm going to sell homes here, I should give something back here too."
SO.
